Sagittarius Latin for 'Archer', is the domicile of Jupiter. The parts of the body assigned to Sagittarius are the hips and thighs. The symbol for Sagittarius is the Centaur.

In Greek mythology centaurs are a race with a horse's body and a human head and torso. They were notorious for being overly indulgent drinkers and carousers. The general character of a centaur is that of a wild, hostile and fierce being, a slave to  animal passion. But there is an exception:  Chiron - half man, half god was a respected healer who was known to be civilised and kind. Revered as a teacher, he had the gift of mentoring his pupils to uncover their highest potential and guide them to their destiny.

Born under this sign of idealism, you probably can relate to this apparent contradiction. Even though most people will only ever get to know you as civilised and sophisticated, educated, polished and refined - you do have a wild side. Those who make the mistake of underestimating you, will realise their blunder only after your arrow has found it's mark. Taking aim and hitting your target point-blank is what you do best.

And with Jupiter as your ruling planet, everything you aim for is larger than life - your most formidable target: the ultimate Truth.

You are committed to honesty and integrity and you are willing to endure the consequences. Being highly unconventional, you don't subscribe to what "is expected”. There are many people who will be able to testify to the ego-chattering results of your attempts to expose the truth of a matter in your own controversial style, while entirely destroying someone's idea of courtesy and civilised behaviour in the process.  However, it is never your intention to be purposely hurtful, nor is it your aim to belittle or offend anyone. Yet, often enough you will end up with both your feet in your mouth while still trying to stand tall.

You can be provocative in your opinions and love to engage in arguments and discussions with opposing stand-points, all in the name of truth. Whether it is a heart to heart with a loved one, an inspiring fight with the guy next door, a healthy disagreement with a friend, a public debate or a letter to the editor. The reason behind this is not, as some might think, because you are given to quarrelling - your incentive and driving force is a genuine interest in people's behaviour,  motivations and beliefs.

You have insights into the future by  having your finger on the pulse of time, sensing the next in-thing, understanding current trends - and your ability to see what's ahead can border on prophecy. You don't follow the latest craze, you set the trend.

Full of animation and spirit and with a zest to experience life to the fullest, you are easily accepted into   the 'in-crowd', which can open many doors for you. You are comfortable rubbing shoulders with 'important' people, have a knack for being in the know and in the right place at the right time and you take it as a compliment when being called 'far-out'.

With your fondness for adventure, foreign cultures and languages you could make a living as a travel agent, writer, photographer or editor of a hip magazine. Given your sense of justice, you could also choose a vocation as legal adviser, reporter, journalist or freedom fighter – with better work-place conditions and civil rights for the latter probably to be the first battle you engage in.

But regardless of your choice of career or daytime job, at heart you are an alchemist who is seeking the philosopher's stone, the remedy for all ills and difficulties, the substance that promises to relieve all human suffering.

Even if you spent your whole life in the same place and never leave your hometown – which would be highly unusual -  you will still travel far and wide in the world behind your minds eye. Books, maps and the inter-net are your gateway to other times, different cultures and far-away countries. You will probably cover more ground in your imagination than others ever do in trains, planes and auto-mobiles.

In friendships and relationships you need lots of freedom and space, physically and emotionally, otherwise you will climb the walls and escape. Restrictions and control don't sit well with you, you need to be able to act on the spur of the moment and make your own decisions. Liberty of mind, spirit and heart is your ultimate goal.

You like to travel light - and often solo. Forever seeking another adventure, setting sail to meet new people and explore new places. Therefore tying the knot is not one of your priorities. Before you walk down the aisle with that someone special on your side, you want to be sure that all your 'ships' have come in – romance and love affairs will have to stand the test of time in friendship and companionship before you make it into a committed relationship.

You aspire to help others find their highest potential. Like Chiron, the wounded healer, your destiny is to receive the gift of healing and teaching through embracing and conquering your own anguish and fears, with some spiritual help and your great allies of  infinite optimism, unrestricted vivaciousness and a little common sense.
