Pisces Latin for 'Fish' (plural), was the domicile of Jupiter until the discovery of Neptune, it's modern ruler. In the body, Pisces rules the feet.

According to one version in Greek mythology, Pisces represents the fish into which Venus and Cupid, the beautiful and sensitive deities of love, transformed themselves in order to escape from the monstrous God Typhon and his bad temper and thunderous voice.

The story goes, that in order to hide from his hostility they jumped into the river Euphrates and turned into two fish, tied together with a cord to make sure they do not lose one another.

Being frightened away, hiding from conflict and opposition and resisting by means of escape, is certainly something Pisces can relate to. And it doesn't take such a fierce and volcanic force as the terrible Typhon to do so - any sign of rowdy behaviour or crudeness and Pisces withdraws, disappearing into anonymity without leaving a trace, blending in with the myriads of other fish in the ocean – until the new tide signals a clear coast for a safe return.

Born under this acutely sensitive sign, you are highly responsive to the vibrations and sentiments of others. You absorb the emotional atmosphere of the world around you often without being consciously aware of it. Walking into a room can be like stepping into a psychic vortex and you instinctively know what everyone is feeling or what has happened just before you entered.  You are therefore easily influenced by external forces and need to learn how to maintain your protective boundaries. Plenty of relaxation, times of solitude, long walks along the waters edge, good food and music are some steps you can take to keep yourself balanced, your energy levels up and your body grounded.

Being intuitive with a preference for tranquillity and seclusion doesn't mean that you don't know how to have fun or enjoy a good time. When you are in the mood, you can be a real performer and entertain any audience. Your charm and bighearted sense of humour, combined with your sympathetic nature opens the doors to many places for you .

Your laid back and moderate disposition can foster a tendency for procrastination and makes it easy for you to drift from a set course, which can be extremely annoying to those around you who expect certain results. But given the duality of your sign, there are other times when you can be unexpectedly driven and focussed, exact and efficient, especially when you have a goal or an incentive in mind.

Since you operate from your heart, and not your intellect or mind,  you often are amazed and bewildered about people's incessant need to talk. Listening to all those verbal battles, discussions and debates you look for different ways of sharing; seeking communion before communication as a means to exchange thoughts and feelings. When one is in tune with each other, there is little need to speak - and if one is not, then what is chatter going to achieve? You prefer the nonverbal exchange of ideas through the worlds of music, writing, art, symbols and signs of serendipity.

Generally, you are not motivated by finance or worldly ambitions. However, sometimes your goals appear to be of a monetary nature because you instinctively know that a concern for material security can stand in the way of the search for enlightenment, and that the extinction of poverty and physical hardship has to be the first step  when one attempts to relieve the world of it's suffering.

At times you appear to be living in a world of your own, trying to escape a reality  that is too harsh for your soft soul. Given Neptune's association with secrets and behind the scenes activities, religious institutions, ashrams, hospitals, prisons, film and fantasy - you could easily give in to these temptations in an attempt to  free yourself from the perils of the human race for a while. Until re-emerging stronger and wiser and with renewed compassion and empathy for others, longing to help people in need, which could lead you into a profession as a healer, doctor, nurse, therapist or counsellor.

Unless you were inspired by an understanding teacher, going to school and acquiring knowledge by means of study and instructions didn't hold a great attraction for you. Thinking, analysing and dry logic are not your natural choices. If it wasn't for some mysterious windows of opportunity – not to mention the classroom ones you loved to gaze through with your eyes wide open – which allowed you to foster your hopes and dreams, you probably wouldn't have made it through high school. The upside to this active imagination is, that it brings with it great creative talent and admirable abilities. Encouraged, it can produce great artists and craftsman.

Tales of distant lands, of dream time and wild nature are your favourite stories – sunrise, sunset and the starry sky the perfect background for the creative power of your mind. Like a mariner, steering your ship on the mystical sea of ideals, going with the flow, drifting and floating with the rise and fall of the world you live in – until, seduced by the winds of change you surrender to the currents of life. Inspired by your own courage you let go of the safety of the shore and set sail to reach new horizons.
